TLG has built a strong practice in the area of Section 1983 civil rights litigation. TLG frequently represents governmental and non-governmental entities in Section 1983 cases. TLG has successfully defended governmental entities in Section 1983 actions ranging from alleged substantive and procedural due process claims to retaliation based upon exercise of First Amendment rights relating to freedom of speech and religion. In addition, TLG has represented plaintiffs in their claims against state actors for violations of their constitutional rights in the areas of de facto takings of property without just compensation, unequal enforcement of governmental regulations and licenses, and other constitutional torts.
