Bio Representations Community Involvement

Shernese Woodbine is an associate in the Philadelphia office of the Tucker Law Group, LLC. She concentrates her practice on commercial litigation involving contractual and commercial disputes, bankruptcy litigation, and civil litigation, including employment discrimination, civil rights, constitutional claims and personal injury. Her experience includes representing clients against breach of contract claims and the enforcement of restrictive covenants,and representing creditors in all types of Chapter 11, Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings.

While attending the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Ms. Woodbine served as an intern for Judge Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Ms. Woodbine also completed externships in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority’s legal department. Additionally, she was an intern for the Migrant Farm Workers Justice Project in Belle Glade, Florida.

REPRESENTATIVE CASES

  • One of a team of attorneys who successfully represented the purchaser of the assets and liabilities of a parts manufacturer against claims alleging breach of contract, breach of implied in fact contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and tortuous interference with contractual relations.
  • Part of the litigation team that represented Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell and U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Richard Santorum in litigation against the U.S. Secretary of Defense involving the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Act decision affecting the 111th Fighter wing of the Air National Guard stationed at Willow Grove naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base.
  • One of a team of attorneys who successfully defended a commercial landlord to defeat a preliminary injunction to preclude the draw down on a letter of credit which was issued as security of a tenancy.
  • Part of a team of attorneys representing a receiver to secure property of a debtor company fraudulently transferred and conveyed to principals.
  • Part of a team of attorneys who represented a large property owner in defeating a preliminary injunction brought by creditors of the seller of a large industrial complex.
  • Representation of lenders in defense of preferences, relief from stay litigation, proof of claim litigation, default issues and remedies.
  • Representation of clients in the execution of judgments against real and personal property.

PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

  • Board Member, The Partnership CDC, a nonprofit agency that leads efforts in affordable housing, job creation and economic development in Philadelphia.
  • Committee Member, Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Ms. Woodbine is also involved in various mentoring programs for young adults.
