Bernard W. Smalley Sr. is now Senior Counsel to the Tucker Law Group, LLC. Mr. Smalley was previously a member of the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association. In addition, he sat as the Chair of Hearing Committee 1.14 for the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board and was a standing member of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Evidence Committee. In 2003, Mr. Smalley was inducted as a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, which is comprised of trial lawyers from around the world and is limited to 500 from the United States. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has received the President’s Award from the Philadelphia Barristers Association, the Soaring Eagle Award from the Minority Caucus of the American Association of Justice (formally ATLA) and the Pursuit of Justice Award from the American Bar Association as well as the 2008 Justice Thurgood Marshall Award of Excellence. Mr. Smalley serves on a number of Boards, including the Widener University School of Law Board of Overseers, the Board of City Trusts where he has a lifetime appointment and Chairs the Girard College Committee, The Ellis Trust and the Board of the Zoological Society of Philadelphia. Bernie Smalley lectures on trial practice, legal strategy and ethics at the local, state and national level. He is a proud graduate of Philadelphia’s Overbrook High School and received his undergraduate degree in 1971 from Temple University and in 1980 obtained his J.D. from Widener University School of Law.
